Chapter 1

(Spyro's POV)

I didn't even know what I was doing when I was suddenly knocked against the wall by a tail slapping me in the stomach. Hard. I looked up and saw a dark figure with glowing eyes glaring down at me, smoke surrounding it. My eyes widened as I realized who it was who just attacked me.

"C-Cynder...?"

I didn't get an answer. Instead, she charged up a poison bomb and shot it at me. I just barely rolled out of the way and managed to get a few feet away from her. The place I was in was familiar, but I was too focused on Cynder to care. What happened? Why did she look like... the time when Malefor used his dark powers to mess with her when we fought him? Wait...Malefor! Did he do this again? I didn't have time to ask her that. She immediately tackled me back to the ground and in less then a second had me pinned to the hard ground.

"Cynder, stop!" It was no use. She was charging up a convexity beam to kill me at close range. And she wasn't speaking.  At least last time this happened, she said something so I could throw it back at her somehow. But no. Not even a "You're going to die." or "Fight back!"

As she was about to deal the finishing blow, a heard a familiar voice yell out to me.

"Spyro!"

The last thing I saw was Dark Cynder's white eyes glowing with hatred when I heard the voice again, finally saving my life.

"Spyro!"

"Huh?" I nearly shouted as I got up. I looked around me. I was on a balcony looking up at the beautiful stars and the celestial moons that had eclipsed four and a half years ago. I looked to my right and saw an annoying buzzing light staring down at me.

"Sparx?"

"Jeez, took you long enough! I don't remember you fat giants being so hard to wake up. Especially not her." I looked next to me and smiled a smile of relief. A black dragon with red scales on the wings and stomach was curled up next to me, sound asleep.

She wasn't radiating a dark aura of evilness.

She didn't have glowing white eyes of hatred.

And she wasn't trying to kill me.

"I always thought she was an even lighter sleeper then you, but I guess not." Sparx grumbled. I laughed lightly and laid my head back down. "Well, unless you WANT her to wake up, go back to bed. Or do I need to remind you what happened last time you woke her up with your constant nagging?" Sparx cringed and flew backwards a few feet from us, glaring at Cynder to make sure she wasn't awake. "Right... just don't have anymore nightmares... I don't think you'd want her to know you were almost yelling her name.

"I was?"

"Why do you think I woke you up, purple?" Sparx grumbled, but he didn't bother me anymore. He flew back into the building we were staying at. I looked back at Cynder and sighed. It was kinda weird she didn't wake up and hear me yelling her name like that. I wasn't so suprised she didn't care about Sparx... she was so used to him talking I guess she just didn't care anymore. But me...? I guess Sparx really was wrong about her being a lighter sleeper then me...

________

"Come on, Spyro! Hurry up!" Cynder yelled. "Coming!" I called after her, struggling to keep up.

We were taking our usual tour of Dragon City, seeing if anyone needed help, enjoying the weather, enjoying not having to worry about dying from an evil purple dragon...Yep, if only these times never ended. As we were running across the streets, I stopped, looking at the now inactive volcano that the Dragon Temple use to be floating above when Malefor took it over. The Floating Islands were gone, and so was the temple where I had lived for like, a year before trapping myself and Sparx and Cynder in a crystal for three years. I looked at the sky where the temple use to be, remembering that just a year and half ago Cynder and I went back to that temple to find it being...different. Malefor's little magic trick had the walls and floors of his throne...shaking? We never were sure what he had done to it.

I remembered the actual fight. We walked into the room, Malefor accused Cynder of helping him trick me into freeing him, trying to turn me against him, then... he took over her mind again...Just like last night.

"Spyro!"

I snapped my head to the left to see Cynder staring at me with concern. "Are you okay?"

"Ah...yeah! Nothing to worry about."

I could tell she didn't believe me, but she just nodded and pointed to the city gates. "Well... the moles are having problems with the gate again.  We need to help them."

"Right." I said, following her down to the city gate.

However, my mind wasn't on the job I needed to do. It was on that dream. There was no special pool or voice saying "Spyro...you need to do this." Or "Spyro...this is your destiny." Or Spyro... I'm making you walk this path. So I didn't think it was the chronicler trying to annoy me again like he had done four years ago. Unless it was a warning...? I didn't have dreams unless they meant something...

...Does that mean what happened to Cynder when we fought Malefor is going to happen again...?

TBC...
Chapter 1 on the same day as the prologue... that's nice. :P

So... poor Spyro has a nightmare...Sparx wakes him up... and apparently Cynder isn't a very light sleeper...
